Congratulations to Our Daydreamer Prize Winners!

Although Lehigh Valley Literary Magazine has experienced some unforeseen delays, the inaugural issue will be released Thursday, August 19th at a purchase price of $3.99 (digital version only), which I think is fairly reasonable considering all the effort that was put into making it happen. If I had to pick an ice cream flavor to describe the experience of starting a business or nonprofit organization, it’d certainly be Rocky Road!

In the first issue, entitled “Hope in the World,” there are 7 Daydreamer Prize winners, who collaborated with me and whose works will be featured in the magazine along with one of my own short stories! Congratulations to:

Anissa Martell, whose artwork Hope (Self Portrait) is featured on the cover and in this post

Amanda Duffy

Susy Kamber

Kristin Ivey

Michele Connelly

Kate Howells

Lacy Gonzalez Browne

For The Daydreamer Prize, an additional $100 was raised, bringing the total to $700 in prizes of $100 each that will be awarded to finalists for their contributions to Issue 1. The theme for Issue 2 will be announced in early October, and submissions will be open for two months until December. Finalists from Volume I: Issue 1, 2, and 3 will have the opportunity to contribute to a book.

All proceeds from sales will go to fundraising for the literary nonprofit that publishes the magazine. Printed copies will also be available later this month.

Join us for the Inaugural Issue Release Celebration at the 40th Annual Roasting Ears of Corn Festival hosted by the Museum of Indian Culture in Allentown, Pennsylvania on Saturday and Sunday, August 21st and 22nd between 10am-6pm, where we’re selling first edition copies hot off the press besides having fun and dancing!
